Where insulation has to carry weight, a roll cannot help. Extruded polystyrene is a closed-cell board that takes compressive load without collapsing and absorbs almost no water, which is why it holds its declared performance in a floor slab or in ground contact — the two places insulation is most often asked to work wet and loaded at once.
